True Independence
Really no words to mourn the passing of Donna Summer. This is one of my favorites and always brings tears to my eyes. That seems fitting.
So maybe just a few words. Until a few months ago when I saw him live, I didn’t know Jon Anderson of Yes wrote that song. Chrissie Hynde does a solid cover as well but Donna’s is amazing, with an all star backing choir.
Thankful I went to see her last time she played within 100 miles. I never thought it would be the last time ever.

Loved, loved, loved Donna Summer growing up. I sang many a Donna Summer song in front of the mirror in my bedroom with my hairbrush microphone. I don’t know if anyone remembers one of Donna’s old album covers, but it was shot as if you were sitting inside a car and your hands were on the steering wheel holding a fifty dollar bill and outside the car were two Ladies of the evenning with a salior. I asked my mom why the man didn’t have the money in his wallet and he as driving around holding it? She told me it was because fifty bucks was a lot of money and he didn’t want to loose it. One of my older cousins finally enlightened me one day when we pulled out that “hot stuff” album and said something dorky like ” He sure is afraid of loosing that money? Huh?” My cousin said “oh he’s gonna loose it all right” and explained to me what hookers were all about.lol
I grew up with Donna Summers and I will really miss her.
Donna was HUGE during my teen years. I have many memories of fun times that had Donna’s music playing in the background. Thanks for the music, Donna!
